Schlumberger IAM 2020

Schlumberger IAM 2020

Schlumberger Integrated Asset Modeler(IAM) is a powerful tool that offers complete subsurface-to-surface modeling, including reservoir description and coupling to the wellbore, surface network and processing facilities.

IAM field development planning and operations software provides a model-based production and asset management service for developing, planning, and optimizing solutions for assets in real time, with short-term and long-term modes for users from reservoir, production, process, and business management disciplines. This control and optimization software integrates existing industry simulators for domains including reservoir, well, network, process, and economics, and is also a graphical reservoir-coupling application that integrates surface modeling and simulation tools.

Providing a user-friendly interface for full-field simulation and optimization, IAM software enables you to graphically build well management and reservoir group controls, including downstream process facility models and fieldwide economics.

Release details

IAM software continues to enhance the functionality and versatility of field development planning and operations. This release improves the user experience by introducing two perspectives for supported workflows—planning and operations. The integration capabilities of IAM software now include the latest version of the PIPESIM steady-state multiphase flow simulator—PIPESIM 2017.2—to couple with reservoir simulation models such as those created using the INTERSECT high-resolution reservoir simulator (well constraints only), ECLIPSE industry reference reservoir simulator, simplified reservoir tank models such as Schlumberger MBX and Petroleum Experts (PETEX) MBAL, and decline curves. New variable rules have been introduced as part of the asset management strategy (AMS) for easily defining model-based field development strategies in IAM software. Also, support for dynamic workflows has been expanded to connect the OLGA dynamic multiphase flow simulator with Aspen Tech HYSYS and Honeywell UniSim dynamics.

Now it is also possible to model steam quality for steam-based thermal EOR processes such as SAGD to optimize the operational and capital expenditures. Operational capability has also been improved by introducing the OPC-DA adapter to extract tags from the external sources such as real-time control systems, historians, and simulators to optimize the operational parameters on demand based on the changing field constraints. Additionally, a support for an offline Excel model has been added to connect petroleum engineering workflows to IAM software models.
