Paradigm GOCAD v2011.1

Data management has been completely renovated to add flexibility and domain language, enhance data browsing and data selection, and increase compatibility with other Paradigm™ applications, especially Epos®-enabled applications. Some new features and enhancements include:
Domain language for object data

For an improved multidiscipline environment, we introduced more domain-oriented terms for modeling data. Now, finding your porosity data, for example, is even easier because you can search your data for \”porosity\” instead of needing to remember which types of modeling objects can contain porosity data or even the names of your objects.
Non-unique data naming

To improve the multiuser experience and for compatibility with other Paradigm applications, we introduced non-unique naming for data. Now, SKUA and GOCAD identify a data object not only by its name, but also by other identifiers. For example, for a geologic object, we use the following:

Type (corresponds closely to the version SKUA and GOCAD 2009 object types)

Domain (time or depth)

User (the person who created or last edited the object)

Survey (for data opened from an Epos project, the collection of seismic data from which the object was created)

Scenario (a new concept for tracking dependencies and nesting when you work in workflows)

Parent (the object or scenario which contains the data)

Modeling role (description of the role of the object)

Now, two objects are considered different if at least one of its identifiers is different. For example, if two users interpret the same horizon and give it the same name, the horizons are considered different because they were created by different users.

Improved data browsers

We introduced new data browsers that present your data in lists and tables, which provide a database-like interface. The tables include columns for the new object identifiers and additional columns provide access to other object meta-data. You can also show or hide specific columns and dynamically group, filter, and sort data in these new browsers.

Showing and hiding columns. You can show and hide most columns in data browsers to see more or less information at any time. However, some columns always appear in specific browsers and cannot be hidden, such as the Name column in the Objects browser.

Grouping. You can easily change the order of columns and groupings of data displayed in data browsers. By grouping columns together, you can create customized, compound filtering that changes the organization of the data to suit your needs. For example, you could group your data by domain to easily differentiate between time and depth data.

Filtering. You can filter the data presented in data browsers by hiding items that fit specific criteria.

Sorting. You can quickly sort your data by any column displayed in the browser.
