COADE PVElite V2011

Code updates and analysis changes

ASME Section VIII Division 1 and Division 2010 new Code updates are incorporated. The updates includes:

1. ASME part UHX for Shell and Tube heat Exchangers.
2. The option of using App. 1-10 instead of UG-37 for all sizes of nozzles on cylinders and cones. This option can provide a more economical design.
3. New Appendix 2 Bolt space correction factor is implemented for flanges.
4. The new UG-45 minimum nozzle thickness table is now used.
5. New minimum thickness requirements for Manways and access openings has been implemented.
6. Elastic-Plastic calculations for floating Tubesheet Exchangers now performed. This option can reduce the stress at the tubesheet-shell/channel junction.
7. Tube to Tubesheet Joint Load requirements to UHX-13.
8. UG-99(b) and UG-100 hydrotest requirements which address bolting.
9. ASME Tables TM (Modulus of Elasticity) and TE (Thermal Expansion).
10. Several of the external pressure charts were revised in their entirety.

ASME VIII-2 Code changes have been implemented.
Completely new ASME Div. 1 Material Databases (Tables 1A and 1B) have been constructed.
Completely new ASME Div. 2 Material Databases (Tables 5A and 5B) have been constructed.
The 2009 Code changes to EN-13445 have been implemented.
Stress checks for Nozzles are performed for given mechanical loadings.
Saddles on horizontal vessels can now be \’loose\’ or \’welded\’ to the shell.

Heat Exchanger Enhancements

The simply supported option for U-tube, fixed and floating tubesheets is now incorporated. This an alternative option to reduce tubesheet-shell/channel junction stress.
Tubesheets are now taken as \’Lines of Support\’ for external pressure, providing a more efficient analysis for vacuum cases.
Fixed and floating tubesheets per EN-13445 can now be analyzed.
Operating temperatures for UHX exchangers can be optionally used to reduce heat exchanger stresses.
For heat exchangers designed to ASME UHX, PV Elite 2011 automatically checks if it is operating in creep range and uses appropriate SPS allowable and Elastic-plastic option.

Internationalization

PV Elite now includes ASME pure-Metric Material Databases (Tables 1A, 1B, 5A and 5B). Users will have an option to use Imperial or Metric material property database with the stress values displayed in user units.
The Costa Rican earthquake Code can now be used. Helps screens are available in both English and Spanish.
The 2008 revision of the Mexican Earthquake Code is now available. Helps screens are available in both English and Spanish.

Productivity Enhancements

PV Elite 2011 now addresses Type 1 Appendix 9 Jackets/Vapor/Distribution belts on cylindrical sections. Nozzles can be added to either the jacket or shell.
The PV Elite \’System\’ folder can be opened directly from the File menu.
A new datum line entry methodology is now available.
The re-calculation engine in the nozzle dialog is now more efficient.
The graphics engine for version 2011 has been updated.
The \’Top\’ view in the 3D graphics is now more appropriate.
The PV Elite user interface has been updated.

Many more User requests

Added detailed output for ASME VIII-1 UG-33(1)(a) for heads under vacuum.
Added detailed output for ASME VIII-1 UG-32(b) for heads under internal pressure.
Added detailed output for ASME VIII-1 UG-33(f) for cones.
A number of additional \’ESL\’ error messages are now included.
Clarified and expanded many help topics and input screens.
And many others…
