Boeing Kork Digital Mapping System V14.0

KDMS is a collection of programs designed to allow rapid and easy collection, processing, plotting, and translation of geographic data. The system supports digitized input from virtually all analog and analytical stereoplotters and a variety of tablets. The powerful automatic and interactive editing capabilities greatly simplify and speed up the editing phase of a mapping project. Optional database translators allow for the conversion of KDMS files to a variety of other CAD and geographic information system formats. Using KDMS, scribed or inked plots can be configured exactly to meet customer specifications. GEOGRAPHIC DATA COLLECTION KDMS facilitates both 2-D or 3-D geographic data collection. The powerful automatic and interactive editing capabilities of KDMS greatly simplify and speed up the editing phase of a mapping project. Optional database translators allow for the conversion of KDMS files to a variety of other CAD and geographic information system formats. GEOGRAPHIC DATA PROCESSING Foremost among KDMS features are the automatic and interactive editing programs. Automatic editing involves the use of support files that define the editing processes, so no special operator intervention is required. Interactive editing allows the operator to perform editing operations at any time during compilation or digitizing. The interactive editing operations are similar to the digitizing process itself. AUTOMATIC EDITING You can use automatic editing programs to perform the following: – Trim line work beneath annotation. – Delete selected line work within closed features (i.e., contours within buildings). – Delete large portions of data within an earth window for update mapping. – Edge match and intersect nearly adjacent linear features from different stereomodels. – Globally or selectively change feature attributes including elevation, feature code, character height, and character width. – Subdivide selected line work at all intersection points. – Snap and cut line ends to other lines within tolerances specified by feature. – Smooth contours and other linear features. – Filter excess data points. – Concatenate multiple strings into a single feature. INTERACTIVE EDITING You can use the interactive editing program to perform the following: – Delete lines, symbols, and annotations. – Restore previously deleted features retained in the database. – Snap and cut line ends to other lines. – Change the shape of portions of lines. – Spline, filter, or square existing lines. – Generate parallels from existing lines. – Modify elevation values. – Move symbols and annotation. – Cut line segments at intersections with other lines. PLOTTING KDMS drafts hard copy output to customer specifications on a variety of plotters to produce the following: – Scribed and inked output. – Coordinate grids that can become part of the database. – Solid line grids, tics, or crosses. – Corner and/or edge labels (choice of four orientations). – Grids annotated with control points. – Hardware and software fonts. The plotting feature also performs the following: – Plots directly from data files or preconstructed plot files. – Saves map parameters for later use. – Windows any area at any scale. – Indexes the plotter to any point on the map.
