Petrel 2014.2 is a significant update of the Petrel platform, delivering workflow enhancements in user experience, geophysics, drilling, structural geology, and modeling. Additionally, there are continuing improvements covering usability, performance, and stability.
Users are presented with an intuitive way to interact with the Petrel platform. A systematic approach governs the new interface design, which is configured in a logical, workflow-driven layout. Users benefit from a focused environment where key tools are presented in context, mouse clicks are significantly reduced, and users are kept focused on interpretation and data.

Petrel 2014 continues the step-change in software beta test methodology that was introduced in the Petrel 2013 beta program engagements. The Petrel platform architecture tracks and audits beta testing, ensuring that the broad range of capabilities is consistently and comprehensively tested. For the 2014 release, this involved more than 70 oil and gas companies across the spectrum of majors, independents and national oil companies, as well as internal resources.
