Key new features in WaterGEMS V8i (SELECTseries 4)
Here is an overview of the main new features:
ENHANCED OPERATIONS
These new features help users to optimize the efficiency of water distribution systems, minimizing operational costs and improving emergency response:
Viewing hydraulic modeling results in the control room is available as a technology preview for SCADAConnect users who would like to test it and provide Bentley\’s development team with feedback related to the specific needs of their organization.
Energy cost improvements enable users to aggregate energy costs across pumping stations and to compute energy costs using complex tariffs. In addition, non-model-related energy costs are included.
Earl C. Schneider, Vice President at Hatch Mott MacDonald, said:
“The enhanced energy cost analysis tools in the upcoming release of WaterCAD/WaterGEMS V8i (SELECTseries 4) will enable us to handle complex electricity tariffs. We expect this will help us achieve better energy savings when conducting water distribution system energy cost studies for our clients.”
Enhanced pipe flushing analysis allows users to perform flushing studies with multiple flushing runs and flushing areas.
New automated flushing reports show the location of valves and hydrants that field staff need to operate when carrying out their flushing programs.
IMPROVED IT PERFORMANCE
Improved hardware and software performance increases users’ productivity, especially when working on complex models:
The SQLite database format solves existing limitations of the MDB format (for example, 2GB maximum file size). In addition, the new file format stores data more efficiently, decreasing database file size by 50 percent on average.
Enhanced interface includes new capabilities, such as background layer and element symbology copy/paste, symbology definition import/export, and property search to filter element properties.
UPDATED GIS AND CAD INTEROPERABILITY
Updated support for MicroStation: Run WaterGEMS from within MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 3).
Updated support for AutoCAD: Run WaterGEMS from within AutoCAD 2014 (32- and 64-bit versions).
Updated support for ArcGIS: Run WaterGEMS from within ArcGIS 10 and 10.1.
Please note that to run WaterGEMS from within MicroStation, AutoCAD, or ArcGIS, a license of one of these programs is required. Alternatively, you can run WaterGEMS as a stand-alone application, which has no platform prerequisite.
