FLOW-3D is our flagship product, a powerful and highly-accurate multi-physics computational fluid dynamics (CFD) package that has been in worldwide distribution since 1985. FLOW-3D provides engineers valuable insight into many physical flow processes, including solutions coupled to thermal energy transfer, 6-degree of freedom fluid-solid interaction, and mechanical and thermal stress analysis. FLOW-3D is an all-inclusive package from setup to simulation to post-processing. No additional modules are necessary. Meshing is simple to perform and it is advanced. It has the simplicity of a Cartesian structure yet conforms to complex geometries automatically for localized resolution and computational efficiency. Visualization and advanced data analysis is powered through FlowSight, a tailored implementation of the world-class Ensight® post-processor, making it possible to understand and clearly communicate results to collaborators and clients.

This tool provides a quick and reliable method of identifying recirculating regions in the flow that may lead to vortex ingestion in pump intakes.
Simulation Pre-check

The primary function of the new Simulation Pre-check tool is to allow users to both conduct a side-by-side comparison of material properties and check the quality of their meshes before running their simulations.

Material Properties

A common problem when setting up simulations is missing or incorrect material properties. The active simulation materials properties tab provides a “sanity check” for users, enabling them to compare the properties in their simulation file side-by-side with reference materials selected from the FLOW-3D material database. The user is warned if required material properties are missing or significantly different than those in the database. Features of this tool include:

Fluid and component properties listed on “Active simulation material properties” tab only include “active” material properties
“Active” properties are properties enabled by activated physical models in simulation
Compare simulation material properties with those in reference materials
Reference materials can be loaded from the materials database
Compare constant properties with a bar-type graph
Compare temperature-dependent properties using x-y plots
